Happy 35th Birthday KFC

KFC spilled the beans on some of their recipes allowing ordinary folks to learn about its closely guarded secrets. What ensued was a super fun event that engaged many of its loyal fans.

Here's another reason to love 'em. I'm trooping to their outlet today to get one!

Tintin Shop

If you were a child of the eighties, you probably loved the comic book The Adventures of Rin Tintin. I was more a fan of the TV cartoon series which came out a few years later and I never stopped being a fan ever since.

Unexpectedly, while walking around Chinatown I come across a Tintin store. I was so excited to check-out the merchandise. They were so cute. Too bad photos weren't allowed inside the store. But here are a few stolen shots. Naughty. Naughty.

 

 

They got a mini cafe at the front of the shop. I gotta go back and try their specialties. Until next time, folks.

Chinatown Revisited

As Chinese New Year draws to an end, I wondered if there will be any activities in Chinatown. Finding no particular event listed the internet, I still decided to just roam around and see what I can find. 

If you are in the market for souvenirs, Chinese mementos or authentic local food and snacks, this is definitely the spot. I realized that I should have bought my mother-in-law here the last time she visited instead of Bugis. She would have appreciated the wide variety of souvenir and gift shops.

So I was just walking around and taking in the sights observing the hapless foreigners and busy shopkeepers. 

I won't be discussing any historical background here as that can easily be looked up in Wikipedia. Instead I'll be sharing some of the interesting things that caught my eye and consequently the Instagram app (which is my current obsession, by the way).

Tanjong Pagar

I went to Tanjong Pagar the other day and chanced upon this interesting metal sculpture. It reminded me of days gone by, being a kid without a care in the world. 

I was both inspired and filled with much melancholy. Through the relentless pursuit of financial stability, I have seem to have forgotten the child in me. I should let her bask in the sun once in a while. It would be good for her soul.

Fun Shopping at Daiso

 Thought I would explore Simei after repeatedly seeing the big Daiso logo whenever I pass by riding the MRT. Along with my cousin, we explored the bargains that can be had at the popular discount store.

I scored a pair of faux Crocs slippers and a strawberry inspired basket organizer each for only SGD2.00. I also picked up a can of UCC Coffee and Orange Soda at 2 for SGD2.00. Not bad, yeah?

I wanted to get more useless but utterly cutesy stuff like stickers and paper products but was in a bit of a rush. Will drop by again one of these days.

Undoubtedly Singapore is one of the most expensive cities to live in in Asia but with a little resourcefulness, one can still find good deals.
